Two hours later they enter the Valley of Fire. As they look around they see that the trees are smoking. “What kind of trees are these?” Anna wants to know.

“Those are very special trees and the key to the survival of all the animals here in the valley. Those are arctic trees which hold ice inside for the traveler whom needs to cool themselves. Many of the birds and other creatures use it as well, but are cautious. You have to reach inside without touching the outside edges of the bark. The bark is so hot that it will incinerate you. Only the animals can touch it without being harmed.”

Rashell looks at Camellia, “Will we have to reach in and get it or is the trip going to be so short and we won’t have to worry about it?”

Camellia shakes her head. “The trip across will take us about three days. We have some water, but we will need more by mid-day tomorrow I’m sure. You will not reach in though. One of us will do it.”

Rashell breathes a sigh of relief.
